Cliffside Park's first public library opened on June 11, 1913, with a total collection of 1,435 books. It was located in a small room in School # 3. For many years the library moved from place to place within Schools # 3 and # 4, until finally the present library was built and was dedicated on October 15, 1967.

Now our library has a collection of more than 65,000 items, including best-seller fiction and non-fiction books, children's books, books on tape or on CD's, magazines, videos, DVD's, music on compact discs, CD-Rom programs, books in other languages, and much more. Through a Karma Foundation Grant the library started a Spanish collection of books and media for adults and children. As part of BCCLS (Bergen County Cooperative Library System), our library also offers access to over 3 million titles available from all Bergen County Libraries. These can be borrowed by coming into the library, phone, or computer request, and they will be delivered to our library within 2-3 working days. Our patrons have access from home to The Record (1984-current), articles from popular magazines and other databases available through the BCCLS web page. The library has 14 computers for public use, equipped with Internet access and Microsoft Office, of which six new computers were acquired thanks to a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Grant. The library offers computer classes on basic Windows and Internet [please check our Calendar of Events].

A valid library card is needed to request or reserve material.
